Dear Jan

Thanks for all the news. Hope the hospital appointment goes well. Chris did not have to have any tests - just examination by doctor.. walking up and down, bending and holding arms out with eyes closed etc. But it may be different for David.....not sure if they can order scans on the spot or whether you will have to go back if he needs them....

Anyway we are here Thursday afternoon so come over if all works out to plan.... the only thing I have is a spa appointment at 6pm so will have to leave by 5.30pm..

Look forward to seeing you both.

Much love

Clare xx

Hi darling
Thought I'd pick this up as David's typing is shit and he is working, so very little time to respond.

Jo has been over since last Tuesday and Mathias and Zac arrive on Wednesday until the 5th when they all return to Megeve. So as Mathias wants to see all of his friends and relatives in London and time is short and as David is at the hospital early (8:45am) on Thursday, subject to any tests which might be required straight after his consultation, we are driving down for lunch with Zac Jo and Mathias. They are on standby in case the hospital appointment takes longer than anticipated.
So if we are down on Thursday we could drive over to see you both after lunch. But as I mentioned above this will all only be possible subject to David's hospital appointment allowing time to accommodate the drive (approximately two hours) and obviously David tires so easily now and he has to go back to work on Friday.

Tracey, I think due to her accident trauma, now looks all of her 45 years but is still quite lovely. Her husband John is so typical of the phrase 'salt of the earth' being affable, comfortable to be with and very down to earth. She adored being surrounded by family and loved meeting her email correspondent Emily and her girls. Andy was on top jocular form and everyone laughed a lot and enjoyed one another's company greatly.

I felt like a real grandma as the girls paid me loads of attention and a little hand reaching into your own can reduce one to tears of joy! So special being called 'GranJan, can you sit with us, come with us, take us to the toilet' etc! Heaven!

Tracey asked about you and sent her love. I'm sure you would like her she's so fragile and has no side to her. She is tall and willowy like you and Jo. David was mesmerised looking into her eyes and remembering your grandmother. It really took him aback. He couldn't stop staring at her! She has no immediate family now of course and is so delighted to feel part of her newly found and extended family. She works as a manager in an elderly persons facility and John is a council officer who inspects old peoples homes. She works in Rotherham and John, all around the same area. They're about 2 hours drive from us and probably an hour and 45 minutes from Emily. We met at Belton House a national trust property which has great facilities for children having an adventure playground, several eateries, beautiful picnic areas and of course a beautiful house and grounds to explore. The day was almost perfect.

They both adore France and potentially wish to retire there. (Despite the awful car crash where they lost their beloved dog). They have another dog now and John insisted that they bring him. He's a rescue dog called Tyke who was immensely well behaved with the girls particularly.

Well I must let you get on, I've chatted on long enough! I'm looking after your 'little ' brother so trust me I have everything in hand. I'll let you know about Thursday as soon as I can gather further information but hopefully we can see you on Thursday afternoon.

Much love to you both x7

Dear Dave

Thanks for the latest news on Tracey. I heard last year that they had had a big crash... it sounded horrendous....

Sorry to hear things are not improving for you.... don't quite understand your email.. do you mean you and Jan are coming to London on Thursday if doctor's goes OK? When are you seeing Jo? We are here Thursday - I have an appointment at 9.30am for an hour but other than that we are around....

Will call you or Jan

Love x 7

Hi Clare

Hope you and Chris are OK. Saw Tracey yesterday. Really nice day. She had loads of pictures of dad, usual holiday camp snaps, one was a bit startling shown him in a wheelchair after his stroke, very gaunt, quite shocking to see it.

She and John had a massive car crash in France last year, she has lost lost of weight, very tall and thin (like Jean) but has the same eyes as Dad, and has the same face as Nanny (Dad's mum).

Physically I had a shit day, trouble walking etc. Told them all that I had had a fall, which In had had – fell over in the front garden, could barely get back up. I don't feel better, worse if anything, still going to work, but more and more difficult. Hey ho.

The chance we could meet this Thursday, Jo is over from France, depending on how it goes in the morning with the doctor, we may, possibly, be coming down 'Sarf"

.

See you soon

Love Dave

xxxxxx
